Heavy spar, also called barite is a barium sulphate crystal with a hardness of 3-3.5. The high density & the high weight are the reasons, which gave heavy spar its name. Barite can be found as thick to thin tabular crystals, usually in clusters with the crystals growing parallel to one another. Can be located in Germany, & the U.S.
The blades on this specimen give it in intimidating icy look, perfect for a collectors cabinet under a display light.
