Limonite usually forms from the hydration of hematite and magnetite, from the oxidation and hydration of iron rich sulfide minerals, and chemical weathering of other iron rich minerals. Gotta be careful when handling this one, your hands get covered in red powder.

For centuries, limonite has been used for pigment in paints, umbers and ochers. Derived from the Green word leimon, meaning "meadow," Limonite typically forms near the sea, in fresh water and bogs.

Calcite is a form of calcium carbonate & is popular for the beautiful crystals it develops.

Really cool to see the calcite crystals on such a brilliantly red matrix. The red in this piece is so fiery and captures attention. This piece would be neat to look at with a hand lens to see all of the calcite crystals & their structure against the Limonite.

Limonite is very grounding and directs you towards stability and comfort. Limonite enhances the substance of personal character, especially under extreme conditions.

Calcite is used metaphysically for spiritual, emotional, and physical development. In the body, it's known to support the repair of bones and teeth. It's also used to enhance cellular communication.
