Orthoceras was an ancient mollusk that lived more than 400 million years ago. The name means straight horn, referring to the characteristic long, straight, conical shell. The Limestone preserved shell is all that remains of this ancestor of our modern-day squid. Fossils are organic structures that have been preserved by minerals assuming the existing structure, in this case Limestone has preserved the Orthoceras.

The Limestone slightly shimmers in the sunlight and the contrasting colors of the black and grey within the straight shell makes the Orthoceras stand out in any setting. This fossil is perfect for collectors, educators and lovers of marine life. It would also be a nice touch to any ocean-themed room or setting.
