Petrified wood is a fossil. It forms when plant material is buried by sediment & protected from decay due to oxygen and organisms. Then, groundwater rich in dissolved solids flows through the sediment, replacing the original plant material with Silica, Calcite, Pyrite, or another inorganic material such as Opal.

This bubbly specimen from Wyoming would make a perfect coffee table piece or to give a woodsy vibe to a nature themed room!

Petrified Wood is used to help connect with the earth & nature. It is a good way for city dwellers to keep nature nearby & encourages people to respect their environment & live in harmony with the planet.
