Tourmaline has a complicated chemical formation. Its formation includes Elbaite, Schorl, Uvite, Liddicoatite, and Buergerite. It is the most multicolored mineral type known, occurring in every color of the spectrum. Crystals are frequently color zoned along their length (bicolor, tricolor, particolor) or concentrically zoned (watermelon). Each colored Tourmaline comes with its own chemical formations. Well known sites are in Pakistan and Brazil.
I love how this Black Tourmaline is pinned on a stand. It makes it perfect to keep on the shelf with some of your other collectibles. The layers and edges of this specimen are particularly eye catching and the texture feels interesting. Be mindful to not apply too much force or pressure with your fingertips if you touch the specimen, as the striations can be sharp.
