Emerald belongs to the beryl family and has a hardness of 7 to 8 on the Mohs hardness scale. They consist of a chromiferous compound of beryllium, aluminum, and silicon. The deep color of Emerald is caused by traces of the element chromium, but sometimes also vanadium. The most popular sites for emeralds are in Colombia and Brazil.
Emerald is believed to bring in love, awareness, and spiritual growth. This pinned Emerald is great to keep around the home or in the workspace, such as an office. The two faces are both different and beautiful. I like the varying depth and vibrancy of the colors that this specimen carries within it.
