Prehnite crystallizes in the orthorhombic crysteal system, and most oftens forms as stalactitic or botryoidal aggregates, with only just the crests of small crystals showing any faces, which are almost always curved or composite. It can be found in in veins and cavities of basaltic rocks, sometimes in granites, syenites, or gneisses. Epidote is a silicate mineral that is commonly found in regionally metamorphosed rocks of low-to-moderate grade. In these rocks, epidote is often associated with amphiboles, feldspars, quartz, and chlorite.
The epidote in this piece looks so piecey and harsh on top of the fragile prehnite. I love the contrast of light and dark greens in this guy!
