Black tourmaline in quartz contains a powerful combination of healing properties. While black tourmaline is believed to dispel negative energy, quartz is known for its amazing ability to augment the powers and properties of other stones making this specimen very special.
I love the way that the colors of the black and white contrast with eachother in this specific specimen. This specimen has a very unique look and if you hold it up to the sunlight, little glimpses of rainbows are very visible!
Tourmaline most commonly occurs as an accessory mineral in igneous and metamorphic rocks. Large and well-formed crystals of tourmaline can form in cavities and fractures during hydrothermal activity. Tourmaline can be found in a rich range of colors such as black, blue-black, deep brown, bright blue, fresh green, dark green, red, purplish red, pink, yellow, etc. Quartz on the otherhand, is among the most common of all rock forming minerals and is found in many metamorphic rocks, sedimentary rocks, and those igneous rocks that are high in silica content. Most quartz forms in either igneous rocks or environments with geothermal waters.
