The trees that are used for Palo Santo are completely natural. The wood that comes from those trees is from the trees and branches that naturally fall four to six years into the process. It takes time for the oils of the tree to work into the wood to get that sweet citrus and pine scent. It is a wild tree that is native to Mexico as well as the Yucatan peninsula of Peru and Venezuela.
Palo Santo is burned in healing ceremonies, and for raising vibrational energies. In Spanish, Palo Santo means “holy wood.” and has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years. Similar to Sage and Cedar, Palo Santo is most widely used for spiritual purification and energy cleansing. Many people use the smoke from Palo Santo to clear their homes of negative energies and restore emotional tranquility.
