Staurolite is a reddish brown to black, mostly opaque, nesosilicate mineral with a white streak. Staurolite has a hardness of 7-7.5 and often occurs in a characteristic cross-shape. This cross shape formation is called cruciform penetration twinning. It is used in geologic field work to assess the temperature-pressure conditions of a rock's metamorphic history.
This Staurolite is just so eye catching. The cruciform penetration is boldly prominent. This specimen sparkles and shines like no other. If you want to add some unique beauty to your home or to your growing mineral collection, this staurolite is for you!
